Strong collaboration between industry and academia can bring revolutionary change in students’ lives by enhancing skill development and creating meaningful project-based learning opportunities. While industry provides practical exposure and real-world challenges, academia contributes innovative solutions, research capabilities, and fresh perspectives to address industry needs. Such a partnership helps build a self-sustained ecosystem and promotes the concept of “industry on campus.”

To cater to this need our Institute , established Corporate Relations Cell which acts as a bridge between the institute and various industries, facilitating collaboration across multiple platforms such as new product development, capacity building, student-centric initiatives (including industrial visits, internships, live projects, and guest lectures), as well as specialized and domain-specific training programs.

As an autonomous institute, VIT has the flexibility to design its curriculum to align with industry requirements, enabling students to actively engage in real, industry-based projects and gain hands-on experience that enhances their employability and professional readiness.

Key Focus Areas for Strengthening Industry–Institute Collaboration

Collaborative Research & Development

Real-Time Industrial Exposure

Need-Based and Skill-Based Training Programs

Role of the Industry Advisory Board (IAB)

The Industry Advisory Board plays a crucial role in aligning academic practices with current industry requirements. The board provides valuable inputs to enhance student training programs, ensuring that the curriculum and skill development initiatives remain relevant and industry oriented

Key contributions of the IAB include:

Offering strategic guidance on skill development aligned with evolving industry demands.

Assisting in planning and organizing workshops, seminars, and guest lectures to enrich student learning experiences

Guiding students in securing internships and industry-sponsored projects.

Supporting collaborative initiatives between the institute and industry partners

The IAB members convene twice annually to review progress, discuss emerging trends, and plan actionable strategies to strengthen industry–institute engagement

COE

We have established Centre of Excellence (CoE) in collaboration with the following companies.

Internship Program

Internships are valuable educational and career development opportunities that provide practical experience in a specific field or discipline. They expose students to the industrial environment and offer opportunities to learn, understand, and enhance real-time technical and managerial skills required in professional settings. Internships also help students recognize the responsibilities and ethical practices expected from engineers. Moreover, they serve as an important gateway to employment.

At Vishwakarma Institute of Technology internship program is  an integral part of their academic development. As per the academic curriculum, students are required to undergo a semester-long internship during the final year of engineering, enabling them to gain hands-on industry experience and better prepare for their professional careers.

A few of the companies where our students have completed internships are listed below:

Industrial Visits

Industrial visits are considered one of the most effective experiential learning methods. They provide students with valuable industry exposure, enabling them to correlate their academic learning with real-world applications. Such visits offer firsthand insights into industrial processes, organizational practices, and emerging technologies, thereby enhancing practical understanding beyond classroom teaching.

Our Institute strongly encourages students to undertake internships as an integral part of their professional development journey. In several academic programs, internships are a mandatory component of the curriculum, ensuring structured industry engagement. The institute actively collaborates with industries that welcome and mentor students during these internships.

All industrial visits are organized with appropriate planning and strict adherence to safety protocols to ensure a secure and meaningful learning experience for students.

Education and Collaborative Initiatives through MoUs

Education, in its broadest sense, refers to any act or experience that has a formative impact on an individual’s mind, character, or physical abilities. In its technical sense, education is a structured process through which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills, and values from one generation to the next.

With this vision, our Institute actively promotes academic and industrial collaborations through Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance the quality of learning, research, and innovation. The institute has established partnerships with many organizations, including reputed universities, industries, and research centers in India and abroad.

These MoUs serve as a strong foundation for:

Joint research and consultancy projects

Academic exchanges and expert interactions

Curriculum enrichment aligned with industry requirements

Internship and project opportunities for students

Faculty development initiatives and industrial exposure

Skill-based training and certification programs

Through these collaborative efforts, our Institute has  developed several advanced laboratories and Centers of Excellence to support research, innovation, and specialized training for students, faculty members, and other stakeholders.

Such structured collaborations contribute significantly to building a dynamic academic ecosystem that bridges the gap between theory and practice while enhancing employability and research outcomes.

Industry Projects

Industrial Training Programs

Industrial training programs are essential not only for engineering students but also for faculty members to remain updated with rapidly evolving technologies and industry practices. Such programs enhance technical competence, build professional confidence, and equip participants to undertake complex and challenging projects with greater efficiency.

Our Institue regularly organizes both short-term and long-term industrial training programs in collaboration with industry partners.

Short-term training programs (one to three days) focus on specific tools, technologies, and emerging trends.

Long-term training programs (one to two weeks) provide in-depth exposure to advanced concepts, practical applications, and real-world problem-solving approaches.

These initiatives ensure continuous skill enhancement for both students and faculty members, thereby strengthening the institute’s commitment to industry-aligned education and professional excellence.
