Events & Activities

The Vishwakarma Incubation and Innovation Park successfully conducted a Five-Day Online Training Program from 10th February to 14th February, 2025.
The workshop was designed to enhance participants’ knowledge, strengthen innovation capabilities, and provide structured learning through expert sessions and practical exposure.

The VIT IIC conducted a Short-Term Training Program (STTP) on “Design, Innovation & Startup” from 6th to 10th October 2025, with the participation of 73 students.

The program aimed to equip teaching professionals with the knowledge and frameworks required to mentor student entrepreneurs and to strengthen an ecosystem that nurtures student-driven startups through incubation and industry collaboration.

The program provided structured learning, practical insights, and guidance to support innovation-led projects and entrepreneurial initiatives within the academic ecosystem.

During the STTP, participants were introduced to key aspects of innovation and startup development, including:

  • Customizing Project Requirements
  • Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and Technology Commercialization
  • Types and Models of Innovation

The Vishwacon IP Conclave 2024, organized at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, was an engaging and impactful event aimed at nurturing entrepreneurial talent and transforming innovative ideas into successful startups.

The conclave served as a dynamic platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their business ideas, receive expert feedback, and gain valuable insights into the startup ecosystem. With a strong focus on mentorship, incubation, and hands-on support, the event enabled participants to develop essential skills required to translate innovative concepts into real-world solutions.

Objectives of the Conclave

  • Showcase Innovation: Provided a platform for entrepreneurs and students to present innovative business ideas.
  • Foster Mentorship and Feedback: Connected participants with industry experts for guidance, feedback, and refinement of ideas.
  • Enhance Skill Development: Offered incubation exposure and practical support to help participants move toward commercialization.

The conclave played a significant role in promoting intellectual property awareness, encouraging innovation-driven entrepreneurship, and strengthening the institute’s startup ecosystem.

On 20 February 2025, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), organized a Bootcamp on Idea Generation and Business Canvas.

The session was conducted by Shashank Verma, a sustainability, technology, and innovation leader with over 25 years of global experience. The bootcamp aimed to bridge the gap between theory and practice and prepare participants for entrepreneurial ventures.

The program covered key aspects of startup development, including:

  • Entrepreneurial mindset and creative problem-solving
  • Business Model Canvas (BMC) development and application
  • Hands-on learning through projects and simulations
  • Structuring business ideas and identifying market opportunities

The speaker highlighted impact investment, clean energy innovation, and strategic leadership, guiding participants on effectively mapping business value, customers, infrastructure, and financial models. Participants actively engaged in discussions and practical exercises, strengthening their understanding of innovation and market strategy.

The bootcamp concluded successfully with certificates distributed to participants, equipping them with practical skills to refine startup ideas and explore entrepreneurial opportunities with confidence.

The Earn and Sell Initiative, conducted from 27th to 31st January 2025 at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, engaged 500+ students in a hands-on entrepreneurial experience designed to cultivate innovation, business thinking, and real-world startup skills.

The initiative was structured as a two-round competition. In Round 1, participants pitched their business ideas, demonstrating creativity, feasibility, and market potential. Ideas were evaluated based on innovation, scalability, and execution strategy. Selected teams progressed to Round 2, where they set up stalls to sell their products or services, applying real business strategies in a live environment.
This practical phase enabled students to develop marketing, sales, negotiation, customer understanding, and financial management skills while experiencing real entrepreneurial challenges.

A two-day Faculty Development Program focused on mathematical modelling and its applications in AI, ecology, data analytics, and computer science. The FDP featured expert sessions from leading academicians and encouraged interdisciplinary learning and research discussions

The Department of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology organized an Expert Session on “Research Direction in AI” on 1 October 2024.

The session was delivered by Uday Kulkarni, Professor at SGGS Institute of Engineering and Technology, a recognized expert in Artificial Intelligence. The session explored evolving research landscapes in AI, highlighting emerging trends, research challenges, and future opportunities for students and researchers.

The session encouraged research-driven innovation, strengthened awareness of advanced AI domains, and supported students in aligning academic research with real-world problem solving.

A session on “Indian Doctoral Research Trends in Science & Technology: Myths & Reality” was conducted on 7 February 2025 at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology as part of initiatives promoting research awareness and innovation-driven academic practices.

The session highlighted the rapid growth of doctoral research in Science and Technology in India while addressing common myths related to research quality, impact, and direction. It encouraged participants to critically understand the evolving research ecosystem and align doctoral work with real-world needs.

The session created awareness about responsible research practices, innovation-oriented doctoral work, and the importance of translating research into societal and industrial impact.

As part of the Startup Day Celebration, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, in collaboration with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), organized an expert session on 14 February 2025.

The session was led by Ameya Paratkar, AI and SaaS leader and TEDx speaker, who shared insights on evaluating engineering innovations before product launch. The session focused on helping students and innovators assess the feasibility, market potential, and positioning of their startup ideas.

Through practical examples and real-world perspectives, the session provided actionable guidance for refining startup ideas and making informed product decisions. The event witnessed active participation and supported students in strengthening innovation thinking and entrepreneurial readiness.

The Bajrangdas Lohiya Central Library at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune organized a session titled “How to Develop Reading Habits of Books” on 14 January 2025 as part of the Vachan Sankalp Maharashtra 2025 initiative, celebrating National Youth Day.

The program featured an insightful interaction with Pritam V. Maral, Library Professional, who shared practical strategies to cultivate effective reading habits among students and faculty and encouraged lifelong engagement with books and knowledge. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation and concluded on a positive note, inspiring attendees to strengthen their reading culture and continuous learning mindset.

Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune celebrated National Science Day by organizing a Project Exhibition that showcased innovative ideas and student-developed prototypes across multiple disciplines. Over 150 student project groups participated, presenting creative solutions to real-world challenges.
A panel of 30+ experts evaluated the projects and provided valuable feedback, encouraging further refinement and innovation. The event successfully promoted scientific inquiry, interdisciplinary collaboration, and hands-on learning while inspiring students towards research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The Institution’s Innovation Council at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune organized an expert talk on “Prototype to MVP” to guide students and faculty on transforming innovative ideas into market-ready products. The session explained the product development journey from Proof of Concept (PoC) to Prototype, Minimum Viable Product (MVP), and scalable product development.

The speaker highlighted MVP variations such as MLP, MMP, and MAP, discussed practical comparisons between PoC, Prototype, and MVP, and presented a real-world case study demonstrating iterative product development. Participants were also introduced to modern AI-driven prototyping tools like Figma, Visily, and Uizard for rapid design and collaboration.

The Institution’s Innovation Council at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology observed National Pollution Control Day through a half-day awareness program aimed at promoting environmental responsibility among students.

The event featured an expert talk by Prof. Neha Rajas on innovative pollution control strategies, along with student-led skits and visual art presentations highlighting the causes, impacts, and solutions related to pollution. Students also shared creative ideas for reducing pollution, with selected ideas recognized and appreciated.
