NSS Report 2014-15

 

Details:

VIT Pune Socials team conduted their annual NSS Camp for the academic year 2014-15 from 14th December 2014 to 20th December 2014 in Rule Village, Tal. Velhe, Dist. Pune.

There were 50 NSS members who attented the camp. The NSS members stayed in Janaseva Foundation. NSS members conducted various social activities for the villagers. The Rule village consists of 7 wadi where social work was carried out.

The major activities conducted during the NSS camp:

 

  1. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

  • A Power drive for cleanliness was conducted for five days regularly in the Janaseva Foundation, Tidkewadi, Halandewadi, Vitthalwadi, Gaonthan, Samaj Mandir and ZP School area.

  • The roadside area of the river was cleaned.

  • Gardening in schools of Vitthalwadi and Gaonthan.

 

  1. Teach For India.

  • English, Mathematics, Science subjects teaching for 8th- 10th students in all schools for five days regularly.

  • Yogasans and Games conducted in ZP School for inculcating the importance of Sports and good health.

  • Conducting Lectures on information on Ayurvedic Medicines.

  • Seminars were conducted by the NSS members on information on Government Scholarships in all the ZP Schools for 8th – 10th students.

  • Music Class was conducted for 5th – 7th students where they were taught basic of classical music and Harmonium.

  • Inspirational Movies were shown to all school.

  • Speech Competition was conducted in school along with quiz contest and drawing competition.

  • Booklets were distributed among the 10th students which were collected from Samaj Kalyan Vibhag, Pune on Governments schemes and scholarship for students.

  • PC repairing was done by the members in Vitthalwadi School.

 

  1. Health Check up.

  • Dr. Amol Sir of the Janaseva Foundation conducted a health checkup for women and girls in Gaonthan and Tidkewadi.

  • Height, Weight, BP and Haemoglobin was tested.

  • NSS members volunteered in this drive.

  • Sir explained the women about good haemoglobin level and diet which must be followed regularly.

 

  1. 7 Days of Happiness for the Oldage Home.

  • Janaseva Foundation included an oldage home.

  • The evening programme of NSS included Cleanliness of the Oldage Home, too.

  • We conducted a cultural programme for the old people where the NSS members showcased their talents. Also the senior citizens actively participated in this programme where they showcased their singing talent.

  • A bhajan session was conducted.

 

  1. Guest Lectures.

  1. Disaster Management Workshop.

  • Disaster Management Session was organized at the Janaseva Foundation for the NSS members, Nursing students and Senior Citizens.

  • It was conducted by the Civil Defense Officials Prof. R.B.Vatti and Mr. Mahajan.

  • Also the same workshop was conducted at tidkewadi for the village people.

 

  1. Viral Diseases and Good Health.

 

  • Dr. Suresh Joshi from Mehta Foundation Conducted an informative session on viral diseases its causes and effects for the NSS members and Nursing Students.

  • A Lecture on good diet and cleanliness was given.

 

  1. Education System.

 

  • Mr. Abhijeet and Mr. Runal Thakkar of Lokayat conducted an interactive session with the NSS Members and Nursing Students about the Changes in the Education System.

 

  1. Woman Empowerment Programme.

  • Every NSS member adopted two ladies in each area and they were taught to write their name and make signature.

  • Most of the women were illiterate and this was a first step for their literacy so that they can at least sign instead of using thumb.

  • Women were explained about the Bachat Gat System, the forcing element for women empowerment.

  • They were given lectures about small house business like candle making, pot designing, etc.

  • A session was conducted for women regarding awareness regarding education, cleanliness, dowry system, etc.

  • Also, the major problem of the village was “Vyasan”. The men were mostly addicted to alcohol, tobacco, etc. The women were also habitual to tobacco.

  • It was a need to explain them about the critical conditions and disadvantages.

  • A session for both men and women to aware them.

 

  1. Street Play and Wall Painting.

  • A Street Play on Dowry System was prepared by the NSS members during the Camp.

  • This Play was performed in all wadis for 5 days. The impact of the play was such that the girls from the schools vowed that they will never give any form of dowry during their marriage.

  • Wall Painting was done for one complete day where all the school walls, house walls were painted with socially awaking thoughts. It is a medium for social awareness. 

 

The NSS Camp conducted almost 80 Social activities during the 7 days camp.

We were guided by our honorable Director. Prof. R.N. Jalnekar, Prof. Dr. Mrs. A.M. Moolchandani, In charge- Student’s Activities, Prof. V.R. Kasar, NSS Programme Officer, Prof. R.B.Vatti.

Also, we would show our gratitude to Prof. Y. B.Yellam, Prof. Sandeep Kulkarni, Prof. Kaustubh Kulkarni, Prof. Prabhat Upadhyay, Shri. R.N. Bade, Shri. Thakkar Sir, Shri, Rajeev Kamble, Shri. Ghule Sir, Shri. Mirase Sir, the teaching and non teaching staff for their support.

The NSS camp was conducted by the Secretary for Social Activities Ms. Aishwarya Gaikwad, Mr. Dalu Biwal, and Ms. Pratiti Doshi.
