One of the major landmarks in development of the Institute was conferment of Academic Autonomy by University Grants Commission and University of Pune. The Institute now can design its own curriculum, academic calendar, conduct examination and declare results. The objective of the Institute is to develop entrepreneurs with competence and character who will contribute to the technical and social development of the Country. For this the Institute has introduced Honors / Minor Streams, General Proficiency Courses, Professional Development Courses, Skill Development Courses, Semester Project, Open Electives (which include Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Economics, etc.) and Soft skills as a part of the Curriculum. Facilities like fast track course, course dropping, registration for extra credits and Industrial training is also available. The Institute has established academic cooperation with various Universities of repute from abroad for Student Exchange and Research Collaboration, like Marist College from U.S.A., Binghamnton University from U.S.A., Penn State University from U.S.A., Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland, a group of 17 Universities from State of Ontario in Canada, Group des Ecoles des Mines, France, AIT based in Bangkok, for students and Faculty Exchange Programmes. Every year more than 15 students from all the branches are benefited by this unique international exposure. This has provided a resourceful platform for faculty and students of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune for synergistic interaction with faculty and students from these Universitites which brings in immense value to our student fraternity. We hope to introduce more student centric systems in future. [Prof. (Dr.) R.M.Jalnekar] | ||
