Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune, one of Pune’s leading Engineering institutions is running a help-line cell to help deserving and needy students get financial assistance to pursue their studies. Our College leads the academic arena by serving to be a role model of academic excellence in Western India in the pursuit of self fulfillment of the needs of students and in the development of their overall personality and well being. We seek to build competent engineers imbibed with the spirit of professionalism and responsible citizenship in a global environment.

We note that there are several students who need financial assistance. Our HELP-LINE philosophy is to search out and verify students in dire financial need and help them complete their education. A separate committee is nominated which functions twice in a year to determine the needy students. The committee recommends students who are then awarded the financial need based assistance. All of this is described in detail in the paragraphs below.

Our college represents students from diverse backgrounds and cultures. Large portions of the students who apply for studying in the college come from rural backgrounds. Many of these students come from backgrounds where their parents themselves are not well educated. These parents take a lot of pains, in providing for the educational needs of the children. The need for the HELP-LINE CELL stems from the fact that there are practically thousands of students in the region, who cannot opt for engineering studies, even though they have the inherent talent to contribute as engineers, owing to the financial burden involved. Our efforts need several hands to enable talent to blossom and therefore we solicit help from all quarters.

The procedure mentioned below is meticulously followed and executed in the first term of the academic year. i.e. in the month of July and August every year. This was first initiated in 1998 in Vishwakarma Institute of Technology and over 91 students have been provided help.

	Evaluation and verification procedures include a visit to the student’s home and a meeting with his/her parents (or guardian)
	Names of short listed students are sent to the Principal for final approval
	Approved list is forwarded to the Accounts Department for further execution of provision of the money to the student

	Funds are solicited from several philanthropist institutions, individuals industries and even generated from donations provided internally by the teaching staff and the parents of the affluent students who study in the college.
	Funds can be paid directly by means of a crossed Check / Demand Draft to VISHWAKARMA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY PUNE –37 INDIA. Payable at Pune, India.. A stamped receipt would be sent back to the sponsoring institution within two weeks after the funds have been credited to the HELP-LINE CELL
